The Police Command in Enugu State has warned that it will not entertain any form of violent protests and rallies under any guise, a statement said on Sunday.
The statement, issued by the command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, in Enugu, said the command had made it categorically clear that no iota of lawlessness would be entertained in the state.
“The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform members of the public, especially the good people of the state, that its attention has been drawn to an alleged intended violent rally and protest.
“The violence is planned to be carried out in the state and its environs by some misguided individuals under the following aegis, such as Indigenous People of Biafra, Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, amongst others.
“In view of this, the state command working in partnership with other sister security agencies has directed its security operatives to monitor.
“This is with a view to fish out those that will be in this habit so that they can be brought to book in accordance with relevant sections of the law.
“To this end, parents and guardians are advised to warn their children/wards to desist from any activity that will bring them in conflict with the law,’’ the statement said.
It, however , urged all to be law abiding and go about their lawful businesses. (NAN)
