Businessman in court for allegedly obtaining money on false pretence

A 40- year-old man, John Aondoakaa, who allegedly deceitfully obtained N350,000 to install a solar inverter, was on Wednesday docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Aondoakaa, , a businessman, who resides at 3/5 Anthony Ojelewe St., Haruna, Ogba, is being tried for conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence, stealing and fraud.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Oke, told the court that the defendant committed the offences in February 2020, at 18, Alhaji Avenue, Badore St., Ajah, Lagos.

Oke alleged that Aondoakaa obtained N350,000 from Mr. Olugbenga Omisore, on false pretence of installing a solar inverter for him.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant also obtained N300,000 from the complainant on false pretence of upgrading his solar inverter engine.

Oke said that the defendant failed to install the inverter, and did not also upgrade the one he collected money for.

The offences, according to the prosecutor contravene sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Aondoakaa, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. S. K Matepo granted the defendant bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Matepo adjourned the case until Oct. 25, for further mention. (NAN)
