Lagos, Jan. 22, 2026 (NAN) No fewer than 108 youths, small business owners, and creatives have received N44.35 million in financial support from NUGI Technologies Nigeria Ltd. and the Ugi Augustine Ugi (UAU) Foundation.
The Chief Executive Officer of Nugi Technologies Nigeria Ltd., Ajoke Akinlabi, in a statement on Thursday in Lagos,said that beneficiaries received support after participating in a video challenge for the recent Carnival Calabar.
Akinlabi said the initiative was part of activities to mark the organisation’s 10th anniversary.
She said the initiative was executed in different initiatives with the largest being the Carnival Calabar Video Challenge, where N18 million was disbursed to 45 winners.
According to Akinlabi, under the video challenge and after the review of about 80 video entries submitted by young creators, five participants received one million Naira each, 20 winners got N500,000 each while another 20 participants received N150,000.
She said the programme was organised as part of the month-long Carnival Calabar Festival, aimed at supporting young creatives.
“It was also aimed at amplifying global visibility for what the organisers refer to as, Africa’s largest street party.”
According to Akinlabi, the collaboration with NUGI Technologies Nigeria Ltd.reflects a deliberate model that combines commercial excellence with social responsibility.
She said the model provesthat indigenous innovation could uplift communities through intentional and structured giving, and help transform government revenue.
Other benefits included powering national-level digital systems and inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs and content creators.
She added that the goal was to keep building Africa’s digital future, one system at a time, ensuring success translates to tangible impact for grassroots communities.
She stated that the fund aimed to go beyond mere recognition, providing tangible financial support to youths pursuing creative and digital careers. (NAN)
