Parents have been advised to ensure their children are safe from the Coronavirus by insisting on precautions and others.

The queen of Apomuland (Isokan LGA, Osun State), Olori Janet Afolabi, gave this advice when she donated face masks and cartons of instant noodles to indigent children in her immediate community, Apomu, as part of activities to celebrate the annual Children’s Day.

Afolabi, who assured that the gift package was not a one-off thing, insisted that it would be done intermittently.

The Olori said she decided to reach because, with the incidence of Coronavirus, difficult situations have worsened and many cannot afford to care for or feed their children.

“As we celebrate 2020 Children’s Day, we should remember children in need and put smiles on their faces. We should give them hope for a greater tomorrow,” she said.

Afolabi further charged parents on their expected roles in keeping their children safe during this pandemic.

“Parents and caretakers must guide children about regular hand-washing and social distancing, as well as other preventive measures, to keep them safe and reduce the spread of COVID-19.”
