The Cross River Ministry of Health has confirmed another cholera outbreak in a remote area of Odukpani Local Government Area, near Calabar.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr Iwara Iwara, gave the confirmation to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar on Monday.
Iwara who said that the outbreak was first reported on Sunday night, however, said that no casualty had been reported.
The Permanent Secretary said that the government had already gone into action to curtail the spread of the disease.
According to him, “It is true that an outbreak has been reported in a remote village of Odukpani and we are already on top of the situation.
“It was first reported last night and very early this morning, we deployed human and material resources to the place.”
It would be recalled that similar outbreak was reported in Ekureku community in Abi Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
The cholera outbreak in Ekureku claimed 20 lives between Thursday and Saturday. (NAN)
