Ilorin, Feb.20, 2026 ( NAN) The Chief Imam, Ajiyobiojo Central Mosque, Surulere, Ilorin, Alhaji Saheed Ajiyobiojo, has urged Muslim and Christian faithfuls to be pious and pray for peace in the nation during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
Ajiyobiojo, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in ilorin.
He urged that the fasting seasons should be utilized as an avenue to focus on prayers for the nation’s wellbeing and its leaders.
The Al-Imam described the period of fasting as being special for both Muslims and Christians, whose Ramadan and Lenten fasting seasons coincide.
“It is not always common to witness this special month where the fasting season for both Christians and Muslims happen at the same time.
“I urge both observers to be pure in character, soul, mind, and spirit, and pray for Nigeria; Intercede for Nigeria on insecurity, leadership and yourself, for this is the best time to connect with our maker,” he said.
The cleric noted that Ramadan fasting is Allah’s command and must be prioritized by Muslims as instructed in the Quran “O Ye believers, we have command you to fast in the month of Ramadan,”.
He urged Muslims to be devout and observe Ramadan in a way that pleases Almighty Allah.
Meanwhile, the Imam also cautioned women against starving or punishing their husbands during the fasting periods, urging them to execute their duties diligently.
“Play your own path as a wife, prepare your husband’s food on time and get the reward from Almighty Allah,” he said.
In the same he urged men to also assist their wives in doing home chores, rather than leaving the burden to them alone.
According to him, wives are not slaves, adding that husbands must assist them whenever the chores become too much for them to handle. (NAN)
