No fewer than 12 ships have berthed at Lagos ports, awaiting discharge of petroleum products, fertilizer, gas, bulk sugar and other cargoes. The vessels are currently at the Lekki, Tin Can Island and Apapa ports, handling imports for industrial and consumer use. The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) disclosed this in its latest shipping position report released on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to the authority, the vessels are laden with general cargo, bulk fertilizer, gasoline, wheat, millet, bulk urea and aviation fuel.

The report also showed that 32 additional ships were expected at the Apapa, Lekki and Tin Can Island ports between May 19 and May 28.

The vessels are scheduled to arrive with petroleum products, food items and other merchandise, including buckwheat, containers, fresh fish, crude oil and bulk wheat.

Other consignments listed include petrol, base oil, bulk cake, condensate, bulk salt, diesel, bulk soya, and general cargo.

The NPA said shipping activities across the ports remained active, with both liquid and dry cargoes arriving steadily.

The report further revealed that 24 ships were currently discharging cargoes at the ports, handling containers, petroleum products, aviation fuel, crude oil, fertilizer, diesel, sugar, wheat, base oil and frozen fish.(NAN)
