Commuters shower encomium on FG over free train ride during Yuletide

Some Nigerians, who enjoyed free train rides between Lagos and Ibadan during Yuletide have commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts in revamping the rail sector.

The passengers, who enjoyed the free ride to eight stations along Lagos-Ibadan corridor,  gave the commendation   in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Samuel Ladipo, commended Buhari and the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for their initiative in bringing relief to the commutters during the festive period.

Ladipo said he was able to visit his aged parents with his wife and three children after 16 years of marriage.

He claimed to be a gateman in a private firm and could not afford to travel on road or a train fare for his family.

A mother of seven, Mrs. Ruth Ipadeola, said she travelled to University Teaching Hospital Ibadan for a surgery with two of her children with the free train ride.

Ipadeola prayed for sound health and successful tenure for President Buhari and the minister of transportation for reviving train transport in the country.

Another passenger, Umar Aliu, a  roasted meat seller, expressed gratitude to Buhari and the  Minister for providing the 12-day free train ride, which enabled him to visit his family in Ibadan on a daily basis during Yuletide.

Also, a 300-level student of Creative Arts, Damilola Ajayi, commended Federal Government for giving him and his colleagues the opportunity to go on picnics to University of Ibadan and some historical places.

Ajayi , who said  that many of them would not have been able to afford the trips,  said that due to the free ride,   majority of her classmates were able to participate in the picnics.

Ajayi appreciated Buhari for the free ride and prayed for peace in Nigeria.

He also commended the management of Nigerian Railway Corporation for dedicating their staff to oversee the 12-day free train ride. (NAN)
