Court remands man for allegedly belonging to secret society

Badagry (Lagos State), Jan. 22, 2026 (NAN) A Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday remanded a 33-year-old man, Ibrahim Lasisi, at a Badagry Correctional Centre for allegedly belonging to a secret society.

 

 

 

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, who did not take Lasisi’s plea ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

 

 

 

Layeni adjourned the case until Feb.19, for mention.

 

 

 

The defendant is facing a three-count charge of belonging to unlawful society, threat to life and breach of peace.

 

 

 

Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 13, 2025, at No 20, Jejelaye St. at Ajangbadi area of Lagos.

 

 

 

Ekpo alleged that the defendant belonged to an unlawful society known as ‘Aye Confraternity.’

 

 

 

He also alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to breach the peace by harassing the complainant, Ms Serifat Lasisi and threatening to kill her.

 

 

 

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 42, 56 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
