Jos, Feb. 24, 2026 (NAN) An Area Court in Jos on Tuesday, sentenced a 19-year-old man, Sunday Ikoja, to a term of 24 months imprisonment, for trespassing and stealing electrical cables and analog meter worth N 250, 000.
The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court, however gave the convict an option of N 30,000 or 12 months imprisonment for the offence of trespass and to a term of 12 months imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine, for the offence of stealing.
The court held that the terms are to run concurrently.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the “A” Division police station, on Jan, 21, by a complainant one Mr Moses Atsen.
He said that the complainant had accused the convict of trespassing into his house, and stealing the electrical cables and analog meter worth N 250,000.
The prosecutor, further told the court that during police investigation, the defendant confessed to have committed the offence .
He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria of 2017. (NAN)
