A Lagos High Court in Ikeja on Thursday dismissed a suit by some commercial motorcyclists (Okada riders) in Lagos State challenging the state’s traffic law banning their operation on some designated off-limits roads in the state.

Justice Aishat Opesanwo dismissed the suit “in entirety,” including all the Okada riders’ 10 declarative prayers, as lacking in merit.

The judge upheld the submissions of the state government and the House of Assembly that no road had been designated by the National as a federal highway in accordance with provisions of the constitution.

Opesanwo also dismissed the arguments of the Okada riders that their rights to free movement, right to possession of properties and freedom from discrimination, were being infringed upon.
