Lagos, Feb. 4, 2026 (NAN) The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has congratulated the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, on his elevation as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
In a statement on Wednesday in Lagos by President of CRAN, Mr Olalekan Olabulo, the association described the promotion as a well-deserved recognition of Hundeyin’s professionalism, intellectual depth, and outstanding performance in managing police public relations.
CRAN noted that Hundeyin’s tenure as FPRO had been marked by effective communication, transparency, and constructive engagement with the media, which significantly strengthened public trust and improved understanding of police activities.
The association also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, for approving the promotion, describing the decision as a clear demonstration of his leadership’s commitment to merit, competence, and institutional excellence.
According to CRAN, Hundeyin has distinguished himself through a strategic and responsible approach to information management, and successfully balancing operational sensitivity with the public’s right to know.
“His leadership has helped redefine police-media relations, by promoting openness, accuracy, and professionalism in security communication.
“The promotion would serve as a morale booster for officers across the Nigeria Police Force.
“It also reinforces the message that dedication, integrity, and hard work are rewarded,” he said.
CRAN expressed confidence that the ACP would bring the same level of commitment, innovation, and professionalism, to his new rank and responsibilities.
The association further reaffirmed its readiness to sustain a collaborative partnership with the NPF, in promoting responsible crime reporting, public enlightenment, and improved security communication nationwide. (NAN)
