The Speaker, Delta House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, has reiterated the commitment of the legislature to work in harmony with other arms of the state government to develop Delta.

The speaker stated this while receiving Justice Opeloye Ogunbowale, the presiding judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Asaba Judicial Division, in his office on Thursday in Asaba.

Guwor promised the readiness of the legislative to maintain a strong synergy and collaboration with the executive and judiciary arms of government, not leaving aside other critical state institutions.

The speaker, flanked by other principal officers of the assembly, noted that improved and sustainable welfare of the people of the state remained a priority in the state legislature.

He identified the symbiotic relationship between the three arms of government as largely instrumental to the state’s peace, robust infrastructural development, social-economic growth and stability.

According to him, under his watch, the 8th Assembly will continue to strengthen its collaboration with relevant stakeholders toward the state’s overall prosperity.

Guwor, the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, also posited that God has favoured Delta.

He emphasised the state did not take God’s love for the people for granted, hence the reason for the law setting aside May 29 of every year as Thanksgiving Day to return all glory to God.

“Delta is one of the states we can boldly say that God loves so very much. That is indeed the reason we are succeeding here in Delta.

“The state remains on a path of growth, prosperity and sustainable growth. Asaba is peaceful; the entire state is peaceful.

“We, at the 8th Delta House of Assembly, shall continue to legislate for peace and good governance in the state and ensure that the state is very habitable for people and visitors to the state,” he said.

The speaker thanked Ogunbowale for the visit and her words of encouragement for peace, good governance and development in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ogunbowale had earlier described her visit to the speaker as purely a familiarisation one.

She disclosed her presence at the thanksgiving service held to commemorate the first anniversary of the 8th Assembly and congratulated the house for its achievements thus far.

Appreciating the speaker and his team for a warm reception, the industrial court judge urged the lawmakers to remain focused to achieve more for the state.

She acknowledged the friendly atmosphere in Asaba and called for sustenance to encourage a greater dimension of peace and development in the state. (NAN)
