January 13, 2024 (Quick News Africa) – The Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted reports circulating on the internet claiming the arrest of the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Aisha Ahmad. The DSS clarified that it did not apprehend any current or former official of the apex bank in the last 48 hours.
The agency took to its official X handle (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight, responding to the widespread reports of Ahmad’s alleged arrest that emerged on Thursday. The speculations suggested that she was taken into custody over allegations of fraudulent acquisition of shares in Polaris, Titan Trust, and Union banks.
In a tweet posted on Thursday night, the DSS stated, “The DSS did not, in the last 48 hours, arrest any former or present official of the CBN.”
This denial seeks to quell the circulating rumours and reaffirms the agency’s position regarding recent actions related to individuals associated with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
