There is tight security at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, venue of the flag-off of re-election campaign of Gov. Biodun Oyebanji.
Security operatives comprising the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services and other agencies were on Monday deployed within and around the venue to ensure a hitch-free programme.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that security checkpoints were mounted on major routes leading to the pavilion, while vehicular and human movements were thoroughly screened before accessing the venue.
The venue witnessed a large turnout of All Progressives Congress(APC) supporters, stakeholders and government officials.
NAN reports that APC members gathered early at the venue, displaying banners, party insignia and chanting slogans in support of the incumbent governor.
Party chieftains and dignitaries, including members of the National Assembly and state executive council were also in attendance, reaffirming their support for Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
As at the time of filing this report, the situation at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion remained calm and orderly, with security agencies maintaining vigilance while the campaign activities progressed peacefully. (NAN)
