The police on Friday dragged a 33-year-old employee before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for alleged theft of motor spare parts.
The defendant Christian Anagbuogu, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Asp Esther Adesulu, alleged that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit the offence between March and April 15, at the New Machine Parts Market located at Trade Fair in Ojo.
She alleged that the defendant, who worked as Assistant Manager at Okey CAS Logistics Company, conspired with others to steal the following items: Two cartons of T4 oil, and some pieces of motor shocks and radiators.
Others are, one carton of Webber oil, and two cartons of Mobile engine oil.
The total value of stolen items amounted to N2.6 million.
The prosecutor alleged that he was eventually arrested following police investigations.
She said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.M Ogun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 13, for mention. (NAN)
