Ex-MAN chairman tasks FG on long-term cheaper funds

An appeal has gone to the Federal Government (FG) to make access to long-term, cheaper funds easier for manufacturers in 2025.

Dr. Wale Adegbite, a former chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Ogun Chapter, made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ota, Ogun.

He said the business environment in 2024 was tough and challenging due to poor power supply, lack of access to long-term cheaper funds, and inadequate foreign exchange for members.

He explained that these and more made it difficult for members to import their machinery and other inputs.

“The manufacturers need to navigate their ways to surmount some of these challenges and come out on top in 2025.

“In addition, we need to put in place strategies that will enhance businesses to win at the end of the day,” he said.

He, however, urged the FG to provide manufacturers with an enabling environment to thrive.

Adegbite emphasised the need to improve security in all parts of the country to guarantee easy distribution of finished goods nationwide.

The former chairman also called the government’s attention to improving road infrastructure and reducing the cost of clearing goods at the ports. (NAN)
