Sokoto, Feb. 16, 2026 (NAN) Minister of State for Works, Mr Bello Goronyo, has distributed cash, food items and clothes worth N200 million to the peoples of Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto state as Ramadan fasting support.
Distributing the items on Monday in Sokoto, Goronyo said the gesture was part of his routine supports aimed at alleviating hardship especially among the indigent persons in the area.
He said fasting was a important ritual in Islamic religion and the support would assist the people to observe it in good condition.
Goronyo added that the gesture was a replication of President Bola Tinubu’s, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko’s (APC Sokoto) and Gov. Ahmad Aliyu’s mentorship on supporting people’s lives and vowed to sustain the welfare support to citizens.
He explained that the beneficiaries included All Progressives Party (APC) loyalists, party officials, elders, vigilance groups, youths and students, women groups, community volunteer groups as well as security personnel in Goronyo LGA.
The minister further commended Tinubu on various infrastructural developments and other services aimed at uplifting people’s lives at various levels in the country.
He said Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, legacy projects and other welfare services had positively impacted the lives of Nigerians.
Goronyo urged the beneficiaries and other Nigerians to reciprocate the gesture and services through support Tinubu’s policies and his reelection in the 2027 General Elections.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to Gov. Ahmad Aliyu on Economic Matters, Dr Bashir Achida, enjoined politicians and other wealthy individuals to emulate Goronyo.
Achida described the gesture as lifeline support and empowerment that would surely enhance people’s lives, stressing that affluent persons had responsibility to support neeey families.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the District Head of Shinaka, Alhaji Abdullahi Durumbu, expressed appreciation to the minister on the gesture which would surely benefit the citizens especially during the Ramadan period.
Other speakers at the occasion included Goronyo Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Zubairu Yari, APC Youths Leader, Malam Nasiru Italy, Goronyo LGA APC Chairman, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad, former Speaker, Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Shehu, Alhaji Aminu Boza, Faruku Ahmad and Alhaji Hussaini Umar-Gorau, among others.
