Fear creeps in as explosion rocks Mile 3 market in Port Harcourt

Many persons have sustained serious injury this morning after an explosion rocked parts of Mile 3 market in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

It was gathered that the explosion occurred at the dry fish section of the market around 6.20am when traders were bringing in their goods and others were opening for business.

Two persons were severely injured, while some women suffered various degrees of injuries.

Confirming the development, the spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, SP. Nnamdi Omoni, told Daily Post  that police operatives have been deployed to the scene of the incident to ascertain what happened.

He also stated that the injured persons have been rushed to a nearby hospital and no life was lost in the incident.
