Nigeria’s Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar in an interview with Channels Television affirmed that former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi funded the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress with over 80% of the campaign money. This assertion has attracted a backlash on the ruling party to defend itself against the ongoing anti-corruption campaign of President Buhari.
The Statement if affirmed to be true, confirms the allegation by the PDP and other Rivers State Stakeholders who had earlier accused Rotimi Amaechi of using state funds and borrowing from financial institutions on behalf of Rivers State to fund the APC. The incumbent Governor, Nyesom Wike had been at logger heads over the misappropriation and diversion of state funds to the APC by his predecessor.
The APC and Rotimi Amaechi are yet to respond to the very indicting statement credited the Bauchi State Governor who is also a member of the APC during the live flagship programme of Channels Television otherwise known as Sunrise Daily.
