The Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Maj-Gen Ibrahim Yusuf, has observed that the game of Golf is a military-friendly sporting activity.
Yusuf made this observation in Kaduna on Saturday during a Golf tournament organized as part of activities to mark the forthcoming graduation of NDA Cadets of 68 Regular Course, scheduled to pass out Oct.9.
He explained that apart from improving cardiovascular respiration, the sport of Golf also helps personnel appreciate the terrain to an advantage in the course of field operations.
The commandant said the main objective of the tournament was to commemorate the upcoming graduation of Cadets of 68th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy
“You can recall that few days ago, we began the major activities with 19th convocation lectures, and today, we are here for a golf tournament”.
“This is why most Golfers in the military do well in terrain description and analysis.
“At the end of the tournament, there will surely be a winner, but the overall objective is to bring the Golfing community, and to also help sensitize the public, on the graduation and passing out parade that the president will review”, he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that a total of 150 Golfers are participating in the tournament.(NAN).
