Kano, March 30,2026 ( NAN) Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed sorrow over the death of the mother of the Emir of Kano, Hajiya Maimuna Umar, aged 95.
This is contained in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, on Monday in Kano.
Yusuf described the deceased as a symbol of humility and Islamic values.
He said that her death was also a great loss not only to the Kano Emirate but to Kano State as a whole.
He noted that the deceased lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation; a life marked by humility, wisdom, and dedication to Islamic values.
The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the Emir, the entire royal family, and the people of Kano Emirate over what he called “the irreparable loss.”
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.
Yusuf also prayed to Allah to give the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
He urged the faithful to remember the deceased in their prayers, especially at this moment of grief.
The funeral prayer (Jana’iza) of late Hajiya Umar is scheduled to take place after 2:00 p.m.
“Umar died at the age of 95 after a life devoted to faith, family, and service to humanity,” Yusuf said. (NAN)
