Lagos, March 30, 2026 (NAN) The Police Command in Lagos State has begun activities to mark this year’s National Police Day with medical outreaches and sanitation exercises, underscoring its commitment to community service beyond law enforcement.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a post shared on her X handle, @AbimbolaShotayo, on Monday.
According to her, the initiative, which focuses on environmental cleanliness, is aimed at promoting a safer and healthier society.
“Officers and personnel participated in clean-up exercises in various parts of the state, demonstrating the command’s role in fostering community development and public well-being,” she said.
Adebisi said the command had also announced a medical outreach programme scheduled to take place at Computer Village, Ikeja, at 10.00 a.m.
“The outreach will provide free medical services to members of the public, further underscoring the police’s dedication to improving the quality of life of residents.
“The medical outreach will feature a wide range of services, including health talks, medical counselling, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, as well as testing for Hepatitis B and C.
“Attendees will also benefit from eye examinations, retroviral screening and the administration of free medications,” she said.
The spokesperson said the initiative reflected the command’s broader vision of policing that prioritised community engagement and welfare.
The image maker noted that the programme was designed to build stronger relationships between the police and the public, while addressing critical health needs at the grassroots level.
“Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free services, as the command continues to position itself as a key partner in both security and social development across the state,” she said. (NAN)
