Governor Adeleke Urges Unity Among Traditional Rulers, Outlines Agricultural Plans at Coronation Ceremony

ERINMO IJESA, Nigeria – Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on traditional rulers in Osun State to strengthen unity among themselves, while also unveiling his administration’s plans for the agricultural sector. The Governor’s message was delivered by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon Tola Faseru, during the coronation of his wife, Her Excellency Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, as the Erelu Soludero of Erinmo Ijesa.
The coronation ceremony took place on Saturday, where the paramount ruler of Erinmo land, His Royal Majesty Oba Odunayo M. Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, conferred the prestigious title on Mrs. Adeleke. The title adds to her existing title as Erelu Soludero of Oke Ila in Ifedayo Local Government.
Governor Adeleke expressed his deep gratitude to Oba Ajayi for bestowing the honor upon his wife, describing it as a “demonstration of affection and love for my family and the entire Adeleke dynasty.” He also congratulated his wife, stating that the chieftaincy title reflects the ongoing efforts of both the government and the Adeleke family to provide relief and support to the people of Osun State.
“This will propel us to do more for the people of Osun State,” the Governor affirmed, adding that his administration remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy and alleviating poverty and underdevelopment in the state.
During the event, Governor Adeleke underscored the vital role of traditional institutions in state and community development. “In the turbulent art of governance, our royal fathers provide invaluable counsel and moral support, which steadies the ship of state and facilitates good governance,” he stated, pledging continued respect and consultation with traditional rulers.
However, the Governor also urged traditional councils to revive and deepen unity across local governments. He warned that signs of fragmentation within the councils are concerning and could threaten the sanctity of traditional institutions. “A united traditional council will strengthen the capacity of our royal fathers to influence government policies,” he advised.
On state governance, Governor Adeleke highlighted several initiatives in the agriculture sector. He noted that his government is expanding activities in the cocoa, cashew, and rice value chains, and supporting the provision of facilities for paddy rice processing. The Governor also mentioned plans to distribute farm equipment and inputs, including tractors, fertilizers, and seedlings, in the coming days, signaling a “golden era” for Osun State farmers.
“Our goal is to transform Osun into an agro-industrial state with excellent infrastructure for economic sustainability,” Governor Adeleke said.
