ABIA STATE, January 13, 2024 Governor Alex Otti has pledged to focus on the task of rebuilding Abia State following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of his victory in the 2023 general elections. Otti made this declaration during a Thanksgiving service held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Eastern Union Conference Headquarters, situated at Abayi Umueze in the Osisioma local government area (LGA).

“Now that the distractions are over; now that the storm is over, I will settle down and rebuild Abia,” Governor Otti affirmed during the service.

The governor, who contested elections three times, revealed that the motivation behind his persistent efforts was the shame he faced each time confronted about the state’s status. Otti emphasised that he was determined to bring positive change to Abia State, especially after winning the election on two occasions only to have his mandate stolen.

“We have been through this journey, and today we are here as the Supreme Court has confirmed that we won the election,” Otti stated, expressing gratitude for the affirmation of his victory.

Governor Otti extended his appreciation to the Seventh Day Adventist Church for honouring him during the Thanksgiving Service. He urged the people to continue believing in the power of God to accomplish all things.

Earlier in the service, Dr. Robert Osei-Bonsu, the President of the West/Central African Division of the SDA Church, emphasised the importance of unity within the church to achieve its purpose. The Supreme Court’s decision brings a definitive end to the electoral challenges, allowing Governor Otti to focus on his commitment to rebuilding and advancing Abia State.
