A 42-year-old sales representative, Samuel Solomon, on Friday appeared before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged N3.4 million fraud.
Solomon, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp Simon Njue, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 4, 2025, at about 2.30 p.m. at Kay Jay Zenith Ltd., Ejigbo, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant used his position as a sales representative at Kay Jay Zenith Ltd. to convert N1.8 million belonging to the company to his personal use.
Njue also told the court that the defendant abandoned goods valued at N1.2 million to damage, while other goods valued at N326,650 expired.
According to the prosecutor, the total value of the money and goods involved was N3.4 million.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 168(d) and 287(1)(f) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287(1)(f) prescribes seven years imprisonment for fraud, while Section 168(d) prescribes two years imprisonment for breach of peace.
The Magistrate, Miss F.R. Ogunkoyode, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the surties should be gainfully employed and provide tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until June 9 for mention. (NAN)
