Delta: Okowa doesn't interfere in governance - Oborevwori

Sapele, Delta State, February 5, 2024: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has praised his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for his respectful approach to the governance of the state. Speaking at the 60th birthday and 24th marriage anniversary thanksgiving of the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, Governor Oborevwori highlighted Okowa’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the Office of the Governor.

Contrary to the experiences in some other states where former governors often wield influence beyond their terms, Oborevwori emphasised that Okowa stands apart by avoiding interference in the affairs of Delta State. He acknowledged Okowa’s refined approach, dispelling rumours and confirming that the immediate past governor has shown immense respect for the current administration.

Addressing the gathering at the Living Faith Church on Shell Road, Sapele, Governor Oborevwori spoke highly of Okowa’s character, stating, “Senator Okowa is a good man; he is not like other predecessors of other states. He has never interfered in the governance of the state. He has immense respect for the Office of the Governor, being an immediate past occupant of the office.”

Governor Oborevwori extended congratulations to Chief Kingsley Esiso on his 60th birthday, emphasising the significance of expressing gratitude to God. He highlighted the value of Thanksgiving in increasing one’s age, noting that while some may organise grand celebrations, acknowledging the giver of life holds greater importance.

In his testimony, Chief Kingsley Esiso commended Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for his successful tenure as the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party. The occasion marked not only a milestone in Esiso’s life but also served as a platform to appreciate Okowa’s contributions to the party’s leadership.
