Prince Godswill Edward, Special Adviser on Sports and Cinematography to Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River, has promised to create jobs for youths in the state, if elected governor in 2023.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Calabar, Edward, a son- in-law to former President Goodluck Jonathan, stressed that job creation for youth would help to curb youth restiveness and reduce unemployment.

Edward had earlier declared his interest to contest for the governorship position of the state in 2023, under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, if elected, he will collaborate with  relevant government agencies and international organizations to train youths in the state on specific skills areas that are currently sought after.

He urged youths in the state to support his aspiration, to enable him to win the party’s primaries.

Edward noted that if the youths were given an alternative platform to be meaningfully engaged, cases of insecurity would be reduced drastically.

He observed that some youths had great potential and business ideas but lacked the capital to start up their small businesses.

Edward then listed his seven points agenda to include Human Resource Development and Empowerment, Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure, Foreign Direct Investment, Tourism, Sport and Development and Industrialization. (NAN)
