Group lauds Niger governor’s agricultural initiative

Mr. Osaro Onaiwu, Chairman, Governors Mandate Network, has lauded the Niger Governor, Mohammed Bago, on the launch of an agricultural model that embraced modern technology and a value chain, describing it as revolutionary.

Onaiwu, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Wednesday in Abuja, noted that the move was a strategic one.

“The programme has created a sense of optimism and enthusiasm among the people of the state.”

“This is a remarkable move towards revolutionizing the agricultural sector by. the governor.”

According to him, the model will not only feed the people of the state but also generate employment opportunities and boost revenue through nationwide sales.

“The agricultural model, unveiled by the governor, will redefine farming practices by incorporating modern techniques.

“This is a monumental achievement by Gov. Bago, aimed at increasing productivity, ensuring food security, and enhancing economic growth.

“With the launch of this initiative, Niger State is set to become a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria.

He explained that the model aims to create a value chain that links farmers to markets nationwide, thereby easing the distribution and sale of local agricultural products throughout Nigeria.

“This will equally drive economic growth, support smallholder farmers in Niger, and also create significant employment opportunities for the citizens.

Onaiwu, while applauding the governor’s vision and determination to develop a sustainable agricultural sector that would benefit the people of the state, urged other state governors to follow suit.

“This initiative has the potential to transform the agricultural landscape of the state and hopefully inspire other leaders to prioritize a sustainable approach to food security and economic development across the nation.

“Innovations like this will not only provide access to nutritious food and security, but the agricultural model focuses on promoting agribusiness and incorporating sustainable farming techniques such as irrigation, greenhouses, and advanced seed technology to optimize productivity.

“I urge other governors to emulate Gov. Bago and prioritize the development of agriculture in their states by investing in modern farming practices.

“We will not only meet the nutritional needs of our people but also create employment opportunities and boost economic growth, he stated(NAN)
