The Beulah World Initiatives (BWI),  a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), said it has offered free medical services to 350 Badagry residents.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that BWI held the free medical outreach as part of activities to mark the fourth coronation anniversary of the Wheto Shewhenu Toyon 1, Aholu Dale of Whedakoh Kingdom in Badagry, a Lagos suburb.

Mrs. Chichi Ononiwu, the Visioner of BWI, who made this known in a statement on Friday, said that the free medical programme was initiated to cater for humanity.

“Our mission is to advance the quality of life of rural and suburban communities in sub-Saharan Africa through the improvement of health, support for education, the enhancement of social responsibility and poverty alleviation.

“We also have a vision to promote decent quality of life in African communities via the drive for communal responsibility and care about the plight of our neighbours thereby preserving the sanity of the human society.

“We have been to about 58 communities so far and still counting, we have also had a good number of outreaches to orphanages, children’s homes, widows and to secondary schools,” she said.

According to her, the free medical outreach includes medical test and treatment; eye test and treatment; provision of eye glasses for reading; health and nutritional talk; free food stuffs and clothes.

She appealed to international and local organizations, individuals,  as well as governments to support BWI in giving quality life to the people.

“We have only been supported by friends who believe in the vision we are driving. We are appealing to government and other organizations to support our initiatives,” she said.

In his remarks, the traditional ruler thanked God for the fourth coronation anniversary.

“We thank God for seeing the fourth coronation anniversary programme, but we count it a feat for this medical outreach to be included in this programme.

“That is why we requested assistance from Beulah World Initiative for the benefit of our people and as you can see, my people really appreciate this, that is why they came out en mass,” he said.

According to him, those who do not have the opportunity to go to the hospital are here to collect free drugs.

“I am using this opportunity to thank the BWI for what they have done for the community. May God continue to bless you,” the royal father said.

Dr. Timothy Onuigbo, a volunteer doctor at the event, said the outreach was a very impactful programme.

“The outreach has good impact on both the communities being reached out to, and the people who are voluntarily involved in organizing and reaching out to the communities.

“It gives an opportunity to positively touch lives through selflessness service,” he said.

Chief Kappo Fonsameh, one of the beneficiaries, thanked BWI for its impact on the community.

“We are really grateful for what you have done for our community today, may God continue to bless and prosper all that you do so that you can keep visiting us,” he said. (NAN)
