Unknown gunmen on Monday night killed two policemen and injured two others when they attacked the Nigeria Police Divisional Headquarters in Kajuru local government area in Kaduna state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Olufemi Adenaike, disclosed this on Tuesday when he led Gov. Muktar Yero round the scene of the incident.
He said that the gunmen attacked the police headquarters around 11 p.m. from three different directions.
He said that only a few officers were on duty at the station at time of the attack as majority of them were on routine patrol.
Adenaike said that two police men were killed during the attack, while two police women were injured and were responding to treatment at  St Gerald’s Catholic Hospital in Kaduna.
He said that though the police had commenced investigation into the attack, they were yet to figure out the reason for the attack.
Speaking when he visited the victims at the hospital, Gov. Yero, promised that government would not only pay their hospital bills, but would also support their families.
He described the incident as `unfortunate’ and urged the police to intensify investigation into the matter in order to arrest the attackers.
To boost security around the premises of divisional police headquarters, the governor directed the Chairman of the local government, Mr Ibrahim Gajere, to fence the station.
In a related development Gov. Muktar Yero has condemned last weekend’s  attack by bandits on Nungu in Sanga local government area of state.
A statement signed by Mr Ahmed Maiyaki, Director General, Media and Publicity in the governor’s office, said the attack led to the death of two persons including a policeman.
Maiyaki said the bandits were reported to have robbed some members of the community.
“This ugly trend has to stop and we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to book by all means,” Yero said.
Yero called on the people, particularly those in rural areas to provide useful information to the security agencies on any suspicious persons in their area. Â
