Gunmen Kidnap Delta Commissioner

Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Hope Eghagha, has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers along Abraka / Agbor expressway, after killing his police orderly,  while  his driver sustained bullet wounds.

Eghagha was returning yesterday to Asaba from his village in Ughile when the  gunmen intercepted his car at Owa-Ekei  highway junction, in Ika North East local government area. It was gathered that the gunmen  trailed the Commissioner from Warri and fired several shots into his car, killing the police orderly on the spot before escaping with Eghagha to unknown destination.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Charles Muka, while confirming the incident said the police was on the trail  of the kidnappers as the command has mobilized to arrest those behind the act,  adding that ‘very soon, they will be smoked out’.

As at the time of filing this report, the kidnapers have not made any demand.
