The Nigeria Under-18 women’s handball team defeated their counterparts Guadeloupe 28-23 on Wednesday to record their first victory in their first match of the 2024 IHF Women’s Trophy Intercontinental.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigerian team led in the first half by 16-9.
The coach of the Nigerian team, Agboola Shittu, told NAN that they would end the championship on a high note.
“They will continue with the same momentum in their remaining games.
“The team is in high spirit now, and we will make the country proud at the end of the tournament, he said
Taiwo Babatunde was voted the most outstanding player of the match.
Nigeria will play their second match against North Caledonia at 6 a.m. on Thursday.

in group A alongside Guadeloupe and North Caledonia.
