Kano, March.14, 2026 ( NAN) The Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBD) will inaugurate an 8 Megawatt turbine test run at Tiga Dam on Saturday, marking a milestone in power supply in Kano State.
This is contained in a statement issued by HJRBD Managing Director Rabiu Bichi on Saturday in Kano.
Bichi said the left side and river bed outlets would be temporarily closed with water discharged through turbines thereby ensuring no downstream shortages.
He explained that the test run marks a major power generation milestone for Kano State.
“The left side and river bed outlets will be temporarily closed for the technical exercise, but water discharge through the turbines will compensate for the closure, ensuring no downstream shortages,” he said.
He assured that there would no downstream water shortage as controlled discharge through the 8 Megawatt turbines would compensate for closed outlets.
“Water users – farmers, fishermen, and communities – are advised to remain vigilant and report unusual effects to the nearest HJRBD office.
“HJRBD remains committed to serving water users responsibly,” he said. ( NAN)
