How Exactly Did NECO Registrar Die?

There is no doubt that the Registrar of the National Examination Council(NECO) Prof. Godswill Obioma is dead.
The issue now is how exactly he died. Conflicting stories have emerged.
Peoples Gazette reported that Obioma was assassinated on Monday night, Peoples Gazette reported.
The report stated that Obioma had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the suspected assassins allegedly strangled him to death.
“The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” Obioma’s wife Elizabeth told Peoples Gazette on Tuesday.
However, the information from Obioma’s son, Prince Godswill Obioma stated that his father had died after a brief illness.
According to messaged sent to the Director Human Resource Management in NECO, Mustapha K. Abdul by Obioma Junior, his father had died after a brief illness.
“Dear Sir, this is to formally inform you that my father Prof. Godswill Obioma the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO passed to eternal glory yesterday 31/5/2021 after a brief illness.
“We request that you kindly notify the Board, Management and the entire staff of the Council of this development.
“We shall keep you duly informed.
“Prince Godswill Obioma the 2nd, for the family,” the information stated.
Another unconfirmed report stated that the director Human resources of the NECO Abdul Mustapha has confirmed via telephone Obioma died in his sleep as a result of heart failure.
Obioma was appointed the registrar of NECO on May 14, 2020 and formally took over the affairs of the Council from the former Acting Registrar, Mallam Abubakar Gana on 22nd May 2020.
A professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation, Obioma was born on 12th December 1953 and hailed from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
He was a former Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council.
Obioma had held other key positions in the education sector, among which were: Director, Monitoring, Research and Statistics, National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB); Director Monitoring and Evaluation Universal Basic Education Programme; Director Monitoring and Evaluation National Primary Education Commission and Head, Department of Science, Mathematics and Technology, University of Jos.
Before his appointment as Registrar/CE of NECO, Obioma was the Ebonyi State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
