Mr Hammed Aroyewun, the Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commended Mr Aro Moshood for initiatives aimed at promoting youth development.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN) reports that Moshood is the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Aroyewun gave the commendation while receiving the trophy for the forthcoming AMA Unity Cup from the AMA Smile Foundation and the competition’s Local Organizing Committee at the council’s secretariat in Igbogbo.
The AMA Unity Cup is an initiative of Moshood designed to promote unity, discover football talents and engage youths across communities in Ikorodu Constituency II.
The chairman, in a statement on Friday described the tournament, scheduled for August, as a platform for nurturing young talents, encouraging healthy competition and strengthening unity among communities.
“This competition is not only about football; it is also about bringing young people together, discovering talents and promoting peace and unity across our communities,” he said.
Aroyewun also praised Moshood for what he described as people-oriented initiatives that had continued to positively impact residents of the constituency.
“Hon. Aro Moshood has consistently shown commitment to the development and welfare of the people through programmes that directly touch lives,” he said.
Aroyewun reaffirmed the council’s readiness to collaborate with individuals and organizations promoting youth empowerment, grassroots sports development and community cohesion.
The Director-General of AMA Smile Foundation, Mr Adewale Bolowotan, said that the trophy presentation marked the commencement of activities leading to the tournament.
Bolowotan said that the competition was designed to create opportunities for young footballers and strengthen social ties among communities in the constituency.
“We want to use sports as a tool for youth engagement, talent discovery and community integration. The support of local authorities is important to the success of this initiative,” he said.
Those present at the presentation included the Chief of Staff to the chairman, Mr Wasiu Olowu; and the Secretary to the Local Government, Alh. Qudus Oduntan.
Others were the members of the council cabinet; officials of the AMA Smile Foundation and members of the AMA Unity Cup Local Organizing Committee. (NAN).
