The Chairman, Ikoyi/Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Bola Oladunjoye, says efforts have been intensified to drive awareness and ensure residents’ participation in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
Oladunjoye spoke during a sanitation monitoring exercise carried out in company of the Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, and Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the state governor.
He said the council deployed multiple channels to sensitize residents, including radio jingles, newspaper adverts, street campaigns, and community outreach in Yoruba, Igbo, and Pidgin.
“We have done a lot in terms of awareness through various media platforms.
“We aired jingles on radio, placed messages in newspapers and engaged community-based outreach to reach residents directly,” he said.
The chairman added that the council will sustain the tempo, through continuous engagement with stakeholders.
“What we need to do now is to sustain this momentum.
“It is the minimum requirement for a good life, and we will keep reminding our people that environmental sanitation is not just for individual benefit, but for the collective well-being of the entire state,” he said (NAN)
