New Delhi, March 3, 2026 (NAN) The Indian Air Force (IAF) says it is advancing rapidly toward a fully network-centric, technology-driven force structure to meet emerging air and space domain challenges.

The Director-General, Air Operations, Air Marshal George Thomas, disclosed this in Delhi during a briefing to foreign defense journalists who just concluded a familiarization visit to key Indian military formations.

Thomas said the IAF’s modernization effort focused on enhancing precision strike capability, integrated air defense, combat readiness and multi-domain operational synergy.

According to him, the Air Force is aligning its transformation roadmap with future warfare requirements driven by data-centric operations, advanced sensors and real-time decision-making systems.

He noted that the increasingly complex security environment demanded faster response time, improved situational awareness and seamless joint operations with the Army and Navy.

The IAF operations chief also highlighted ongoing efforts to boost indigenous production, upgrade legacy platforms and induct next-generation systems to maintain air superiority.

On operations, he said the Air Force remained prepared to respond across the full spectrum of conflict—from peacetime air policing and humanitarian missions to high-intensity combat operations.

Thomas emphasized that the service continued to play vital role in disaster relief, strategic airlift, medical evacuation and support to civil authorities during national emergencies.

The briefing underscored IAF’s commitment to maintaining credible, agile and future-ready aerospace power, capable of safeguarding India’s national interests.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the engagement was part of international media familiarization tour designed to showcase India’s evolving military capabilities. (NAN)
