On February 13, 2023, a team of international scholars gathered in the newly completed ultra-modern aerospace engineering building at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, to evaluate the post-field presentations of three PhD students from the Department of Architecture at Caleb University in Nigeria.
The scholars assembled virtually in Meeting Room A-4 to assess the presentations, which were evaluated using global academic benchmarks and criteria to ensure that the work met international standards. The evaluation exercise was organized by Dr Obuks Ejohwomu, an Associate Professor from the University of Manchester.
Prof Adedeji Daramola, Professor of Architecture and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at Caleb University, joined the foreign team of assessors, which included Dr Mohammed Abadi from Syria and currently at the University of Manchester, Dr Enoch Odesola from De Montfort University, UK, Zheng Gong and Kamil Okedera both from University of Manchester, UK.
The purpose of the academic interaction and evaluation was to make the PhD work in Caleb University more robust and of global quality and standard. The Vice Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, who participated in the evaluation exercise, commended the College of Environmental and Management Sciences and the College of Postgraduate Studies for their good work and called for the department to work towards graduating PhD students within a three-year timeframe.
The International assessors commended Caleb University for the quality of its postgraduate programmes and made useful contributions. The contributions made by the international assessors have been harvested to enrich and make the various theses of global standard, making meaningful contributions to the body of knowledge.
