In Lagos State, Nigeria’s most populous state, Peter Obi of the Labour Party has been declared the winner of the presidential election. Obi secured 582,454 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Bola Tinubu of the APC, who scored 572,606 votes. Atiku Abubakar of the PDP came third with 75,750 votes.

The election had a total of 1,347,152 accredited voters. Lagos is a state where Tinubu, a prominent politician, holds a lot of political control and influence.

Obi’s victory in Lagos, a traditionally APC stronghold, is seen as a significant upset and a major boost to the Labour Party’s national ambitions. His victory has been attributed to his message of bringing positive change and addressing the challenges facing Nigerians, such as unemployment and poverty.

The election was relatively peaceful, with incidents of violence and disruptions reported. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commended the people of Lagos for their peaceful conduct during the election.

As Nigeria prepares for a political transition, which will take place later in May, Obi’s victory in Lagos is likely to have a significant impact on the political landscape of the country. It remains to be seen how this will affect the fortunes of the major political parties in the upcoming elections.
