Kano State Executive Council has approved the sum of N48.5 million Naira for the procurement of anti-malarial drugs and malaria rapid diagnostics test kits as parts of efforts to deal with the prevailing malaria scourge in the state.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State’s weekly Executive Council meeting. N10 million was also approved for procurement of chemicals for mosquitoes, vectors and rodents control for 52 boarding secondary schools across the state.
These initiatives are to further reinforce prevention and control measures put in place by Government, to curb the scourge, Comrade Garba stated that in the same direction, the government consented to release N19. 15 million for emergency Lassa fever preparedness response and control of other epidemic prone diseases in the state.
Also approved by the state government is release of N73. 75 million for the take -off of sponsorship for entrepreneurship development training, in respect of some Kano indigenes, being trained by the North West Zone of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Commissioner further disclosed that N36. 226 million was approved for payment of compensation of property affected by the dualisation of Panshekara- Madobi Junction road in the outskirts of Kano city and the sum of N6.39 million for procurement of materials for erosion control affecting 46 graveyards within Kano metropolis.
