Kosofe chairman engages students, unveils empowerment initiatives

LAGOS, Oct. 27, 2025 (NAN) The Chairman of Kosofe Local Government in Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Ogunlewe, on Monday held a meeting with students from tertiary institutions within the council area focusing on education and youth development initiatives.

The meeting, with the theme; “A Day with the Chairman”, was organised by the Greater Kosofe Students Union (GKSU).

During the meeting, Ogunlewe launched a Student Skills and Empowerment Initiative to help young people gain useful vocational and digital skills that can help them build careers or start small businesses.

He added that the programme would help students become more self-reliant and prepare them for the future.

“Education is the key to a better life.

“Our administration will continue to support students through bursaries, skill training, and other programmes that promote academic success,” he said.

He urged students to take their studies seriously and contribute positively to the development of Kosofe.

“You are the future leaders. We will keep working with you to make Kosofe a better place,” he said.

The President of GKSU, Mr Alao Bamidele, thanked the chairman for his support and giving students the chance to share their views.

“This meeting shows that the council cares about young people.
“We are happy to have a chairman who listens and is ready to work with students,” he said.

A participant,Miss Tolani Ajibola, said the session was encouraging and will help students understand how local government can support education.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that participants ended the meeting with a short networking session where they shared ideas on youth development and future collaboration with the council.(NAN)
