Kymarle: Transforming the Beauty Industry

LAGOS, October 8 – Rebecca Ruona Olotu, popularly known as Ruona, is blending her legal background with her passion for makeup artistry to shake up the beauty industry. Her brainchild, Kymarle Beauty, is a mobile makeup studio that is redefining beauty services in Nigeria.

Ruona’s journey began far from the beauty world. She pursued a law degree at Nottingham Trent University in the UK, but her fascination with makeup persisted alongside her legal studies. Spending hours watching YouTube tutorials and experimenting on friends, her hobby soon grew into a serious interest.

By 2018, Ruona decided to turn this passion into a profession, embracing the art of makeup as a freelance artist. Her approach? Enhancing natural beauty with minimal products.

A pivotal moment came when Ruona attended a masterclass in Lagos led by celebrity makeup artist King Mali Magic. The session inspired her to advocate for the representation of women of color in the beauty industry, focusing on celebrating their natural glow. Mali’s “Dewy Brown Girl Project” heavily influenced Ruona, driving her to push for diversity and inclusivity in her work.

Kymarle Beauty was born out of Ruona’s vision to merge luxury with convenience. Officially launched on June 12, 2022, the mobile beauty studio offers clients a fully equipped makeup studio right at their doorstep. This innovative service caters to a variety of high-profile events, including weddings, music video shoots, and Nollywood productions.

Ruona’s creative talents extend beyond makeup. After completing her law degree in 2014, she ventured into the music industry with the release of her debut EP. She later formed the girl group Rcube alongside her sister and cousin, both acclaimed performers in Nigeria. The group gained prominence through performances at major events like “Industry Night” and “Felabration.”

While establishing herself as a makeup artist and musician, Ruona also pursued her legal career. She became a qualified lawyer in 2018 and has made significant contributions to Nigeria’s Presidential Amnesty Program, focusing on empowering communities in the Niger Delta region.

In addition to her beauty ventures, Ruona has explored special effects makeup for Halloween events and regularly provides free makeovers for charity, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to the community.

Kymarle Beauty’s unique mobile services, combined with Ruona’s diverse talents, are setting new standards in the beauty world, offering a fusion of creativity, luxury, and convenience that is transforming the industry.
