The three local government council chairmen in the Badagry area on Wednesday urged the residents to continue to promote love and peaceful coexistence as the world celebrates Eid-el-Fitr.
They gave the advice in separate congratulatory messages to Muslims and constituents on the successful conclusion of the Ramadan fast.
In his message, Mr. Olusegun Onilude, the Chairman, Badagry Local Government, said Eid-el-Fitr holds a special place in Islam as it commemorates the end of Ramadan.
“In the last 30 days, we have painstakingly prayed and fasted with our families, friends, and communities.
“May all our supplications and sacrifices be acceptable in the sight of Almighty Allah.
“Eid-el-Fitr embodies the perfection of Islam as a religion and the true path bestowed on mankind.
“It challenges us as Muslims to be prepared for any self-sacrifice and noble deeds and urges us as people to be harbingers of peace, love, and humility, and also promotes the spirit of stability, tolerance, and brotherhood in our homes, communities, and nation,” he said.
In his message, Mr. Joseph Gbenu, the Chairman, Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), urged Muslims to distance themselves from issues that could disrupt their common existence and peace.
“I encourage us all to continue to show love with a good act of giving and the peace that we have maintained during the holy month.
“I pray that the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan continue to be with us all,” Gbenu said.
Mr. Samson Olatunde, the Chairman, Olorunda LCDA, urged the faithful Muslims to carry the lessons learned during the period forward into their daily lives.
Olatunde urged them to use the lessons as guiding lights to navigate through the storms of the present.
“This festive season is not just about festivities; it’s about embracing the values of compassion, gratitude, and solidarity that define Islam.
“Let us carry these lessons forward into our daily lives, using them as guiding lights to navigate through the storms of present realities.
“May this Eid serve as a reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding, and may it inspire us to build a stronger, more inclusive community together,” he said. (NAN)
