Lagos LG trains 350 youths in digital marketing

Lagos, Feb.1, 2024 (NAN) Mr. Olusola Ajala,Chairman , Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, has urged youths to embrace entrepreneurship and acquire the necessary skills in order to be self-reliant.

 

Ajala gave the advice while speaking at a training programme organised for youths in the council area on Thursday in Lagos.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 350 youths were trained in digital marketing at the programme.

 

The council chairman said entrepreneurship was the solution to the problems of unemployment and poverty.

Ajala said the programme aligned with the vision of his administration to position Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA as a hub of innovation.

“Our aim is to empower participants with essential digital marketing skills so that they can contribute to the growth of local businesses and the overall development of the community.

“The participants, who are youths in the community, were exposed to practical insights on digital marketing during the programme.

“Throughout the intensive training, participants were immersed in hands-on sessions covering various aspects of digital marketing,” he said.

 

He added that the programme also aimed at equipping the participants with the expertise needed to navigate the competitive online landscape.

Ajala said the training was also to empower participants to harness the power of digital marketing and promote brands, products, and businesses.

“By acquiring these skills, participants gained the ability to reach a broader target audience online, consequently boosting their online visibility and driving sales.

“The training also fostered a collaborative environment, allowing participants to network with fellow entrepreneurs, share experiences, and explore potential partnerships.

“This development not only enriched the learning experience but also laid the foundation for a supportive local business ecosystem within the LCDA.

“As participants implement their newfound digital marketing skills, the ripple effect is expected to fuel economic development, create job opportunities, and position the LCDA as a model for community-driven progress,” the chairman said.

 

One of the facilitators, Mr. Olalekan Adigun, Director of Studies, while addressing participants, charged them to be focused and deploy the knowledge they gained positively.

 

One of the beneficiaries, Miss lewelry Udoh, thanked the council for the training, saying the skills acquired would help   grow  her business.

“I now know more than I knew before. With  new skills and knowledge, my business will flourish and advance,” she said

Another beneficiary, Mr. Ibrahim Mustapha, also appreciated the council for the opportunity, saying he had learned new skills in digital marketing.

Miss Adeagbo Faisat, another beneficiary, said she participated in the programme specifically to learn social media advertising tools and graphics.

“Before now, I used to pay graphics designers for flyers, but now, the knowledge I gained at this training would make me independent,” she added.

Master Nurudeen Obas, another beneficiary, said that he was exposed to many areas of digital marketing and that he would extend the knowledge he gained to benefit other youths within his reach and capacity.

“I hope to use this training to increase my visibility in the media space, solving people’s problems as related to my profession, which is engineering and construction,” he said.
