Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court Ibadan, on Monday, sentenced a 24-year-old man, Oluwatobi Okusanya, to six months imprisonment for defrauding unsuspecting foreigners off their hard-earned money.

Agomoh convicted and sentenced Okusanya after  he pleaded guilty to the one-count amended charge of cybercrime, which was read to him.

She added that the judgment took cognizance of the plea bargain agreement between the convict and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office.

“Therefore, Okusanya is sentenced to six months imprisonment.

“The US$1000 restituted by the convict is forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria,” the judge held.

Additionally, she stated that the laptop confiscated from Okusanya should be auctioned and the proceed sent to the Federation Account.

Earlier, the EFCC Prosecutor, Mr A.S. Suleiman, had told the court that the convict committed the crime on Aug. 14, 2025 in Ijebu Ode, Ogun.

Revealing the facts through the EFCC investigator, Uchenna Ogechi, he said that Okusanya was arrested with an HP laptop, defrauding unsuspecting foreigners of their hard-earned money.

Suleiman tendered the incriminating documents printed out of the convict’s fictitious email address and the 1,000 dollar found in his possession as an exhibit before the court.(NAN)
