A 29-year-old Abdullahi Yusuf, on Friday, appeared in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged impersonation and theft.

Yusuf, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy, impersonation and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, said the defendant committed the offences on June 1, at about 3.30 p.m., at the Oke-Padre area of Ibadan.

Adegbite alleged that the defendant, with the intent to defraud people, falsely represented himself as a member of the Nigerian army by putting on a complete military uniform.

He alleged that the defendant also stole the sum of N161, 750, belonging to a Point of Sale (POS) operator, Adedoyin Ayedun.

Adegite said the offences contravened provisions of Sections 390(9), 484 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N 1 million  and two sureties in like sum.

Ayofe, among other terms, held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant while the other an owner of a landed property with proof.

She adjourned the case until Aug.31, for hearing. (NAN)
