A 30-year-old suspected drug trafficker, Wahidi Adeniran has been arraigned before Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court, Ibadan over alleged possession of 605g of Cannabis Sativa.
Adeniran pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of unlawful dealing in narcotics preferred against him.
Counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Oyo State, Mrs A.A. Balogun had earlier informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on Feb. 26, at Adoawaye, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to Balogun, the NDLEA operatives arrested Adeniran after receiving credible intelligence that he was into drug trafficking.
She added that the defendant was caught in possession of a sack containing 605gm of Cannabis Sativa.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of section 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap n30 laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004.
Consequently, Agomoh ordered the defendant to be remanded in Agodi correctional facility and adjourned the matter until July 1 for hearing on bail application.
