A 35- year-old man, Rahim Afeez, was on Friday arraigned before a Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan for allegedly assaulting a couple and their daughter.

Afeez pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge of breach of peace and assault brought against him.

Consequently, the court’s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo admitted him to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Akintayo said that the sureties must each possess a landed property with Certificate of Occupancy (CO) within the court jurisdiction.

She added that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax payment to the Oyo State Government.

She adjourned the matter until May 20, for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on April 9, at about 9.00 p.m, at Odo Oba in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Ayeni alleged that Afeez, together with others now at large, forced their way into the home of the complainants and unleashed mayhem on them.

He further alleged that the defendant used a hammer to hit the complainants Olanrewaju Ashiru, his wife Olabisi and daughter, Faisat.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene the provisions of Sections 516, 355, 249, and 81 of the Criminal Code cap 38 vol. ii law of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
