A 39-year-old farmer, Kayode Bolarin, on Friday, appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, for
allegedly stealing 300 bunches of palm fruits worth N600,000.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant conspired to commit the offence alongside others now at large, on Feb. 16, at about 11.00 a.m. at Okitipupa Oil Palm Plantation located at Ikoya.
Omoyeigha alleged that the defendant and his accomplices stole 300 bunches of palm fruits worth N600,000, belonging to Okitipupa Oil Palm Plc.
He said that they were eventually arrested following police investigations.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He added that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must also present evidence of two years tax payment made to the state government.
He adjourned the case until May 18, for hearing. (NAN)
